Cheapass Games: We Make the Rules. We here at Cheapass Games are aware of two basic facts about games: they cost too much, and they are at some level all the same. If you ignore the clever shapes they come in, the cheap little plastic pawns are an interchangeable part of most of the board games in your house. So are the dice, the money, the counters, the pencils, and just about every other random spare part. These generic bits and pieces can account for as much as 75% of a game's production cost, and that cost gets handed to you. If you had your choice, you'd probably invest a little bit of money in one good set of gaming paraphernalia instead of twenty crappy ones, and then just buy the new part of every "new" game. Yet most companies insist on selling you the whole package every time; it's like bundling a can opener with a can of beans. Cheapass Games come with the bare essentials: boards, cards, and rulebooks. If you need anything else, we'll tell you. And it's probably something you can scrounge from a game you already own, or buy at a hobby store for less than "they" are charging you for it. Heck, if you need to, you can even buy the parts from us. And once you've assembled your collection of generic small parts, you can use them for every new Cheapass Game. We've standardized our designs so your gaming toolbox will last. If that sounds pretty good, page through our website and check out all the cool things Cheapass Games has to offer you. Cheapass Games relocated in the Spring of 2005, so if you are having trouble reaching us, please make sure you have our most current information. Cheapass Games StaffSince setting up this new site in 2006, we've stripped out all links to our personal email addresses, because we freakin' hate spam. We had hoped visitors could piece them together from the subtle clues we left, but we've decided to make the clues less subtle. Below are our emails in parentheses, with the "@cheapass.com" stripped out. James Ernest (james): James Ernest is president and lead game designer for Cheapass Games. He's also currently sleeping. Contact James about game rules, game theory, and the solution to the logic puzzle in Save Doctor Lucky. Liz Lindsay (liz): Liz is VP of PR, which basically means she makes sure this Web site runs correctly. Contact her if you notice that we've been hacked, that a link that used to work doesn't work any more, or when James keeps ignoring your emails (that's the PR part). Carol Monahan (rat): Carol is our accountant and financial advisor. She also has sixteen years of experience as the wife of James Ernest, which makes her uniquely qualified for the job. In addition, she has five years of experience as the mother of James Ernest's child, so she's often distracted and hard to reach. Toivo Rovainen (zombie38): Toivo is our assembly chief and spiritual advisor, and has been with Cheapass Games since the beginning. Actually, since the day James decided he'd rather not sort cards for the rest of his life. Toivo will soon be leaving us to pursue more fulfilling employment (which basically includes anything), but may return from time to time out of a sense of collator's nostalgia. You can watch him work right here. Prince (prince): Prince is a real cardboard monkey who will
not answer your mail and who will not look at your game submission under
any circumstances. The best you can hope is that he will convey your
letters directly to the trash, unspoiled. Privacy PolicyWe take your privacy seriously. We don't like to receive junk mail, so why should you? Therefore, we'll never sell your name or address to anyone. Join our Discussion Group! It's not your fault. You have a disease.
